Psychologists say that depression often involves 'tunnel vision'—focusing only on the negative. Surah Ar-Rahman is the antidote. It forces us to widen our lens.
The Repetition is the Key
31 times Allah acts: "Which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?" This repetition breaks the cycle of negative thinking. It demands that you acknowledge the sun, the moon, the trees, the dates, the oceans. It forces gratitude into the heart.
Mercy Before Justice
The Surah starts with "Ar-Rahman" (The Entirely Merciful) and then mentions "Allamal Quran" (He taught the Quran). It reminds us that the Quran itself is an act of mercy, designed to heal us, not burden us.
