In the Indian Subcontinent, the debate between Noorani Qaida and Baghdadi Qaida is legendary. Both are excellent tools, but they approach reading slightly differently.
Noorani Qaida: The Systematic Choice
Authored by Sheikh Noor Muhammad Ludhianvi, the Noorani Qaida is famous for its scientific structure. It groups letters by shape and sound, making it easier for the brain to pattern-match. It introduces Tajweed rules (like Ghunnah and Mad) very early on in practical exercises. This is generally preferred for non-native speakers.
Baghdadi Qaida: The Traditional Choice
The Baghdadi method is older and uses a spell-it-out approach (Hijja). It is very thorough but can feel slower for a modern child. At Aleha, we primarily use a modified Noorani curriculum because it yields faster reading fluency for English-speaking children.
