Surah Al-Mulk is known as 'Al-Mani'ah' (The Protector) and 'Al-Munjiyah' (The Savior). The Prophet (PBUH) never went to sleep without reciting it and Surah As-Sajdah. It consists of just 30 verses, but its weight in the unseen world is immense.
The Companion in the Grave
We are told in Hadith that this Surah will intercede for its companion (the one who recited it often) until he is forgiven. When the punishment of the grave comes to a person, this Surah will stand as a barrier, arguing on behalf of the reciter saying, "He used to keep me in his heart."
Reflection on Creation
Beyond the reward, the content of the Surah is a powerful reflection for the night. It asks us to look at the stars, the birds, and the earth, reminding us of Allah's control before we drift into the unconscious state of sleep. It resets our perspective on life and death daily.
