For many parents, Salah becomes a daily power struggle. "Have you prayed?" becomes the most repeated phrase in the house. But how do we shift from policing to inspiring?
1. Be the Role Model
Children emulate what they see, not what they hear. If you drop everything when the Adhan is called, they will learn that Salah is the priority. If you delay it, they will too.
2. Explain the 'Why'
Don't just say "because Allah said so." Explain why Allah wants us to pray. It's a meeting with our Creator, a recharge for our soul, and a way to ask for whatever we want.
3. Create a 'Masjid' at Home
Designate a special corner for prayer. Decorate it with prayer mats, attar (perfume), and tasbihs. Making the space inviting makes the act inviting.
4. Celebrate Milestones
Throw a 'Salah Party' when they complete their first full day of prayers. Positive reinforcement creates positive associations with worship.
