The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Pray as you have seen me pray." This includes the recitation. Surah Al-Fatiha is a pillar (Rukn) of the prayer; without it, the prayer is invalid.
Major Mistakes (Lahn Jali)
Mistakes that change the meaning of the Quran are called Lahn Jali. For example, pronouncing 'An'amta' (You bestowed grace) as 'An'amtu' (I bestowed grace). If done in Fatiha, this can nullify the prayer.
It Beautifies the Voice
Even if the meaning isn't changed, Tajweed adds a rhythmic beauty that softens the heart. Listening to an Imam recite with perfect Tajweed elevates the spiritual experience of the entire congregation.
Don't Be Discouraged
If you are struggling, remember the Hadith: "He who recites the Quran and finds it difficult... will have two rewards." Your struggle is recognized. But the goal should be improvement, not complacency.
